Emotional Cognitive Regulation in University Students during Lockdown: A Comparative Analysis of Students from Spanish Universities

Studies focusing on strategies for the cognitive regulation of emotions are gaining importance due to development and perpetuation psychopathologies. The obligatory home confinement imposed in response COVID-19 pandemic has led new virtual learning methodologies. Objective: Our objective aimed analyze compare emotional students from universities Spanish mainland with that attending Universidad de Las Palmas Gran Canaria. Methods: An online Emotional Regulation Questionnaire was applied, together a survey covering students’ beliefs about pandemic, including information their housing conditions learning. study included sample 1030 university students. Results: On at Canaria, most frequently used adaptive strategies. Three were both groups but different extents (Acceptance, Positive reappraisal, Putting into perspective), while other same extent (Refocusing planning, refocusing, Rumination, Blaming others, Catastrophizing, Self-blame).
